7 Quick Takes – 39 Weeks, False Alarms, and Papal Visits

Sensing that this will be random, so might as well make it a Quick Takes, it is Friday after all! Linking up with Kelly who is sharing lots of awesome updates from Philly as we speak.

1.
Still waiting on baby to make his or her appearance. I think I am 39 and 5 today? Due date is Sunday, and so I am coming to terms with being probably overdue again. My first was nearly 2 weeks late, and my second was almost two weeks early, and both of them right around the same size/weight… so it really gave me no idea of when to expect, and just to be ready for anything! So ready we are.

2.
I had one “False Alarm” on this past Wednesday, where we actually called the midwife in the middle of the night to come and everything. They kept telling me “better safe than sorry” and after two very fast labours where they barely made it in time, I was trying to be quicker to call. Regular contractions 5 minutes apart from 3:00 – 6:45 am, but I guess its not enough, (TMI but… its the first check I have ever had (in all 3 pregnancies) where I was not 0, or 10)  and I need to keep waiting for contractions that are “different”… that’s what I waited for last time, and there was very little time between the “different” contractions showing up and baby’s little crown appearing…

3.
I finally replaced my old and chronically overburdened iPhone that was multiple generations old, switched to Android, and have been having some getting to use a phone that can actually do stuff, but now for the second time in barely a week it is giving me lots of problems, so I think I will go exchange it for something else. Argh! Very frustrating. Sony Xperia M4… not a fan of you.

4.
It’s been interesting watching all the events surrounding the Pope’s visit to America this week. Memories of seeing JPII in Toronto 2002 and Benedict in Washington and NY in 2008 are coming flooding back! Lots of prayers for the success of the visit because it certainly feels like the spiritual attacks have gone way up in number in the past few days as well.

It really was incredible to be there, and quite amazing that I happened to be able to be at so many events during that visit, as it happened to be the same week that I moved from DC to Miami.

Our group in front of the main altar after the closing Mass at WYD 2002 in Toronto, I have a bandanna (not a hat) on my head, and my BFF who is still my BFF is right beside me, kind of between two red shirts in the center row, left side

And I am pretty impressed I could find pictures from 7 and 13 years ago that easily. I guess my pictures are more organized that I thought. And also, time flies.

5.
I feel very blessed that I got to see multiple Popes on multiple occasions. I also saw both Pope JPII and Benedict in Rome at different times. So Blessed. I thought this would be my chance to see Francis as well, because as soon as World Meeting of Families was announced my dad booked a house in Philadelphia and we planned to go. Note to self… don’t make plans more than 9 months ahead of time. Now my due date and the Papal mass coincide! My parents and 2 sisters and brother in law and nephew are having a wonderful time though! It looks like such a fantastic event, following along on EWTN the best we can.

Cute things 3 year olds say:
Yesterday during a moment of being a “threenager” Clara told me that the picture (of “Easter eggs”) she had drawn earlier that I had told her I really liked and put up on the wall was in fact “A picture of bad guys fighting you mom.” She was surprised to find out the good guys always win.

And today, when I finally gave in and said they could watch some Mike the Knight, I started singing the theme song ‘Mike the Knight, hes our hero…’ and she corrected me with “Mom! JESUS is our Hero!!”

7.
I really can’t think of much else. And if I leave it for too long it will never get posted… so freebie quick take!

Thank you for all the prayers for little one’s arrival!

  2. Best of luck to you with baby #3! I hope baby comes tomorrow, I had my oldest two on Sundays and it was really peaceful (and nice that I didn’t have to worry about hubby making it home in time). We have homebirths as well and have loved our experience with it. May God bless you with an easy and healthy birth!

Would a Moto G be compatible for you? I have the older version, and my husband just got the new one – we both love ours. It was recommended by a techy friend of mine and he was totally right. This phone is known for being the low cost – high quality Android go-to option. We got ours on Amazon but you can also purchase directly from Motorola (well, pending no Canadian conversion issues, that is). Just a thought!
